Topics: liver health
The liver is the second largest organ in the body. And for good reason, too – it does so much in terms of regulating and maintaining many live-sustaining tasks, including metabolic and hormonal functions. It’s also the body’s main detoxification organ, so you should be doing all you can to keep your liver in peak performing condition.Read More
Epsom salt is the common name for magnesium sulfate, an abundant geologic mineral. It is also an extremely versatile household product, with many helpful applications ranging from DIY spa treatments to soothing sore muscles to fertilizing soil. Epsom salt has been around for hundreds of years, but it’s currently gaining new fans that are looking for natural, inexpensive alternatives to overpriced store products in wasteful packaging. Epsom salt is safe, easy to use, available at any grocery or drug store, and it costs next to nothing.
The elements magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen combine to make magnesium sulfate, a salt which can help improve health in numerous ways. Up to 78% of Americans don’t get the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of magnesium, which helps regulate the activity of more than 300 enzymes in the body. Magnesium deficiency can contribute to high blood pressure, hyperactivity, heart problems, and other health issues. Sulfur is essential for many biological processes, helping to flush toxins and form proteins in joints, brain tissue, and mucin proteins. Doctors recommend soaking in an Epsom salt bath as a safe, easy way to increase the body's levels of magnesium sulfate.Read More
Spring is here and so is our renewed commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
And if there was ever a time for a healthy body detox, it's now. Ever wonder how many toxic chemicals our bodies absorb every day? Well, according to a 2011 report from the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and some fact-checking from SaferChemicals.org, the average American is exposed to more than 120 chemicals a day, many of which are likely linked to cancer, birth defects, asthma, allergies, and other health problems.
While some toxins are a by-product of where you live, others occur naturally. The good news is our bodies have a natural way of dealing with toxins. And actually, we are our own first line of defense.
So here's something to think about. If our bodies were a business, our kidneys would undoubtedly be the CEO. That's how vital these organs are to our health. The bad news is, our kidneys are one of the most under-appreciated organs in our bodies.
Picture your kidneys as delicate fist sized beans lodged to the left and right of your lower rib cage. These bean shaped organs act as filters and are the last step in your body's natural ability to detoxify itself.
And if your kidneys are functioning under stress, your health can suffer. Healthy kidneys, combined with the liver, free up your body's natural resources to help you fight disease and illness. So why not consider a kidney cleanse?
Did you know the kidney is actually a self-cleaning organ if you consume the right amount of fluids? These can take the form of fruits and their juices, vegetables, lots of water, and kidney teas.
According to Dr. Clark and her approach to self health, a kidney cleanse is a procedure used to dissolve deposits inside the kidneys that can lead to kidney stones. You'll notice kidney cleanses can vary in their approach, but in most cases the cleanse will combine herbs, vitamins and minerals into a synergistic blend to flush out your kidneys.
People all over the world are desperate for sleep!
I did not realize how tricky it is to judge if Agave is good or bad. After looking into it, I think it's both. To be on the safe side I only use the dark - organic - raw agave and use it sparingly. Further I do not rely on any one sweetener. Honey is great also - especially Acaci Honey. Also use Stevia and Birch Bark Syrup (Xylotol).
